The Cotswolds is one of my favourite places to explore in England. I spent many weekends in The Cotswolds, driving from village to village searching for cute streets, adorable houses and good pub grub. The Cotswolds is one of my favourite places to visit, and it gives me escape from everyday life.
I headed over The Cotswolds for three days for a weekend of relaxing, walking and drinking beer.
When I head to The Cotswolds I always pack quite light and I pack clothes which are easy to put together and can be worn for a manner of different reasons.
My style is very laid back anyway, as you will see, but I wanted to put together a post about what I might pack for a weekend in the English countryside. Think jeans, jumpers, Converse and parkas…
Clothing
A trip to the countryside has the essentials: black jeans, cosy jumpers, a smart skirt for the evening and a pair of boots. I also think a smart casual dress is essential for a Sunday pub lunch, perfectly teamed with a pair of tights and boots. I also love the FatFace jacket below in the blue as it is a wonderful piece to pair with the dress or a jean and top combo. And the shearling around the collar is great for a winter’s walk.
I couldn’t put together a packing post without including my favourite piece of the moment, my FatFace roll neck jumper in stone, it’s easy to pair with everything and is super cosy.
Another piece of clothing this jumper goes with is my Gap jeans with embroidery on the sides, these are the comfiest pair of jeans ever, and they add a little glam to a standard pair of blue jeans.
Next up, my ASOS skirt (I wore this on Christmas Day, and loved it) which is perfect for going out for dinner in the evening, paired with a strappy pair of sandals or even boots for that casual evening look. And followed by my F&F Clothing ‘Happy Days’ jumper which is great to throw on over black jeans and a pair of Converse.
And last, but not least, for day casual I always take a stripey top (OK, like three stripey garments here) and a denim pinafore as they are so easy to wear, and again, they can be dressed up or dressed down. I love this one from New Look as it again goes with everything, and is super comfortable.
I am not claiming to be any kind of ‘fashion aware’ person but I wear what I love, and what makes me feel comfy. I am not one for trends, and instead prefer to stick to the essentials that I know work for me; blacks, grey, and whites in a t-shirt, jumper or jean format. I am also going to ‘attempt’ cutting back soon and putting together a capsule wardrobe, send me tips!
I love buying my clothes from High Street but what I love even more is when I can find a bargain. I love shopping at Love the Sales as you can get browse all the high street shops and their sales in one place. I recently bought this denim pinafore from the New Look sale via Love the Sales.
Shoes
An essential for me, in both wardrobe and life, is the white Converse. I have worn Converse since I was a baby, living in them through my teenage years as I rocked out to Avril Lavigne and then again became obsessed when I started university, finding that a white pump literally went with everything. I wore them to lectures, shopping, to the library and out on nights out. They are my staple shoe!
Then there’s a boot, which also can’t be missed, I have this pair from FatFace. They are a simple black chelsea boot with rubber sole and stretchy side to ease getting the boot on. They also wipe clean so if you get muddy, you can simply wipe them down. Perfect for a weekend of walking The Cotswolds.
