Last week I contributed towards a wonderful e-book called We Bloomin’ Love You Mum – a series of short, moving tales that showcased the inspirational steps of motherhood from some of the UK’s most celebrated lifestyle & food bloggers, which included myself.
The e-book is now live and ready to view here and I love how it’s turned out. The e-book is beautiful with moving tales from many of my favourite bloggers and their memories with their mothers, what their mothers have taught them, and how they are going to be as a mother (if they aren’t already).
Here is my excerpt:
“A credit to my mother has always been her openness to talk about everything. It has meant that through my childhood and teenage years I never felt like I couldn’t ask her advice on a certain topic.”
“My mother didn’t have her mum from the age of seven and always relied on other female role models to advise her and guide her, and it has been a vision of hers to ensure I always felt like I had someone to talk to.Even the personal questions, OTT information on boyfriends and past relationships, and the birds and the bees talk when I became a young woman.
I know that when it comes to myself having a child, she will always be there, on hand, on text and on the phone to answer the questions too personal to ask your husband, or even Google. Having a shoulder to cry on, an ear to bend or a person never ‘unavailable’ is something I will be eternally grateful for.
I can only try to be, from my experience with my mother, to be as open as she has been with me. I want my children to feel like I am not both their mother and parent, but their friend and confidant too. Motherhood I am told is not easy. It is however, rewarding, and seeing the children you have raised becoming adults is something I cannot wait to experience myself.
Some people find this person within an aunt, a friend or a husband, but for me my adviser will always be my mum. My mother is my rock, my star, my moon and my world.”
