Okay I promise this is the last Amsterdam post for a while, until that is, I go back to this wonderful city again. Amsterdam is one of those places where you can stumble across wonderful cafes and places to eat around every corner, and whilst wandering the Nine Streets area of Amsterdam this summer we came across a lovely little café called Pluk.
I was drawn to Pluk immediately when I saw the words ‘raw’ and ‘healthy’ due to my recent weight loss programme, of which I am not 6 weeks into. I didn’t want my trips this summer to mean I took 10 steps back with my weight loss, therefore I opted for the healthiest food whilst I was away too. This meant cooking our own food in our Yays apartment, and opting for healthier options when we were out. You can read my post about our apartment here, and my post on eating healthy on holiday here.
Pluk serves anything full of goodness with nutritious benefits, this includes sandwiches bursting with protein and leaves, or the odd acai bowl with banana and granola. And they also serve a large selection of healthier cakes, such as their divine raw carrot cake, and homemade banana bread.
I opted for a slice of the banana loaf and I was so glad I did, it was amazing, alongside one of their signature shakes, the Karma Craving with almond milk, cocoa powder, maple syrup, almond and vanilla syrup. Theo opted for a Magic Moon pressed juice with pineapple, kiwi, celery, orange, curcuma and lemon, and a Seaside Heaven salad bowl.
It is also the atmosphere that gives this café the wow factor, offering a downstairs area with small shop, selling flowers, fruit, vegetables and homeware, whereas the seating for the café is upstairs. I had to stop myself from buying everything they had, as we’d only bought hand luggage and were already full to the brim in our bags.
I’d totally recommend popping in to this wonderful little café and shop if you are passing Nine Streets in Amsterdam. After a long day of walking or cycling you will have earned yourself a slice of cake and a latte.
