Updating my Summer Wardrobe

Dress: SimplyBe

Summer has rolled around and that means only one thing… it’s times to get a new wardrobe! Back in March I did a wardrobe cull, chucking out nearly 50% of the clothes I had kept for years. I whittled it down to one wardrobe, filling it with pieces that were clean cut, would go with anything, and were interchangeable throughout the seasons. I created in essence a capsule wardrobe which I knew would last me through the next 12 months. However, I realised I needed to invest in a few other key items, like dresses, jackets and tops. Here is what I decided to include:

I have been loving an array of brands including FatFace, Peacocks, SimplyBe, Gibson Girl, UK Swimwear and Long Tall Sally. I popped in a big order at the beginning of summer with FatFace and I fell in love with their entire summer collection. Think patterned dresses, slip-on shoes, embroidered shops and khaki green shorts. Everything was very me, so I couldn’t help but order most of the collection for 2017.

I fell in love with their Suki Chambray Shirt Dress; 50s styling with a modern twist; this shirt dress is made from a lightweight chambray fabric to add a cool touch to any day. I also loved the Lily Vintage Flora Maxi Dress which I have worn time and time again throughout summer as it’s beautifully patterned and is floaty. For tops, I popped in my basket the stunning Melanie Cami, with pretty broderie details and button-up back, plus a Lottie Jacquard Cami.

I also grabbed a Tasha Mid Denim Jacket, and a khaki coloured Hastings Garment Dye Military Jacket, for when the summer nights get colder, and I know these two will last me throughout autumn, and maybe even winter too. And my ultimate fave summer shoes has to be their Meldon Sandals, which sold out in record time!

Peacocks have had a bumper summer, with some beautiful pieces hitting the shelves including stunning gingham dresses, floppy hats, embroidered bags and much much more. I loved this Embellished Beach Bag from Peacocks in the hessian style, with black beads; the perfect bag for a weekend getaway. And I also loved this Gingham Midi Dress, which will go perfectly with this Slogan Floppy Hat next month in Portugal.

Another favourite of mine this summer had to be Long Tall Sally offering clothing and shoes for tall women 5’8″ and over. I am just on the cusp but I didn’t want to miss out on some of their wonderful summer collection, full of floaty dresses, and adorable sandals. I picked up one of their stunning Spot Chiffon Midi Dresses which is perfect for a summer holiday, with flattering neckline and feminine flair. As they say on the website, “Wear from mornings to martinis.” And to go with this dress I picked up a pair of their Lulu Knot Detailed Sandals with the most beautiful front positioned bow.

For those sporting moments, Gibson Girl are the perfect brand to grab a new gym clothing haul from. They’ve got an array of options, from sports bras, to leggings. I fell in love instantly with these On Point Tights – Black / Pale Grey Dot, and I also grabbed the matching work out sports bra. And also Sam, the owner, is the loveliest lady ever!

Swimsuit: UK Swimwear

I also invested in a one-piece from UK Swimwear, which I wore on countless times throughout the summer, including a recent visit to Rudding Park Hotel and Spa. I opted for the Gottex Monte Carol lowneck. Gottex is built for slimming your figure and giving you some of the most athletic swimwear possible.

And last but not least, SimplyBe is also a big favourite. I am not big (I am around a 14-16) but I simply love the styles and flexibility of their clothes, especially their dresses. I ordered a few dresses at the beginning of summer, including the Lovedrobe Angel Wing Dress, which I wore at Ragdale Hall on a trip with my mum, Animal Print Frill Jersey Swing Dress which is a casual dress suitable for running to the shops with a pair of Converse, Bardot Frill Dress perfect for summer nights on holiday, and the most alternative dress of the bunch, the Simply Be Ruffle Wrap Dress, with two patterns working together!

This list is basically everything I am going to wear this summer, including an array of basic items I have anyway! What have you got in your wardrobe for this summer?
