Monthly Favourites – February #11

February was a busy month, with lots of exciting adventures and life milestones. We had lots of birthdays, Arabella’s, my mums and my best friends, and then we also jumped on a flight out to Sweden for six days of adventures. I filmed the whole trip to remember to keep your eyes peeled for the video. We also visited The Pointer in Brill, as well as a quick trip to Leicester to see Katherine Ryan live, thanks to my brother! Here is everything that I have been inspired by this month, I have enjoyed or I have gone and done in February, and a few things from January…

Spending Six Days in Småland, Sweden

In February I spent six days exploring a region of one of my favourite countries in the world, Sweden. We decided to head to the region for six days taking in various different sights and activities. We planned in three days skiing, a day exploring Store Mosse National Park, a visit to a leather museum, and a day exploring the little town of Gränna.

After scouting the areas for slopes (there’s loads) we opted for a day at Mullsjö Alpin and then two days at Isaberg Mountain Resort. Both resorts differed in size, capacity and facilities, but both were great for us, a couple wanting to hit the slopes for a few days, and make the most of the resort facilities. Our visit to Store Mosse was also great, and we walked around the park taking in the nature and even visited the iconic bird tower at Naturum. Read all my posts from Sweden here.

Increasing productivity in the evenings

After a long day at work, our evenings can often turn into a binge watching session of TV’s crappiest shows. However, as the new year approached I wanted to be far more productive with my evenings. As I finish at 5pm, it gives me ample time to get life admin done, and end the day on the right footing. These are 5 things that I try to accomplish each night to help my day end well and to prepare for the next day:

1. Go to the gym straight from work – If you’re anything like me, I have to go to the gym straight from work. If I go home, I don’t end up going back out. Better off taking my gym kit to work, and heading straight from the desk to treadmill…. Read the full post here.

A stay at The Pointer, Brill

Located in the twee village of Brill, in the Buckinghamshire countryside, The Pointer is a gastropub-come-restaurant with a butchers next door and four newly refurbished rooms across the road. The pub is winning every accolade possible at the moment, after being awarded Hotel of the Year by The Sunday Times and then Michelin Pub of the Year for 2018.

Opened a decade ago by partners David and Fiona Howden, The Pointer is focused around real homegrown produce. The owners also have a 250-acre farm in the next village, and alongside the Butcher’s and the four new bedrooms, they’ve really taken ‘keeping it local’ to the next level. Read the full post here.

Interviewing the wonderful Holly Tucker

Holly Tucker, MBE is a British entrepreneur, philanthropist, and UK Ambassador for Creative Small Businesses, but is probably most well-known for setting up the incredible online marketplace, Holly began her career involved in small businesses, from attending craft fairs to setting up Holly & Co, a network for small business owners, and she has always cared for greatly the people she has met along her journey. I am super excited to interview Holly for my INSPIRED interview, deviating away from the usual travel-focused content and instead bringing you content based around careers and personal development (something that will appear more on Sophie’s Suitcase over the coming 12 months). Read the full post here.
