REVIEW: Flower Bungalow, Ko Phi Phi Don, Thailand

gggThis little resort of 12 bungalows with individual or shared bathroom and 28 bed dorm situated is about 10 minutes on foot from Tonsai bay and the pier, or 3 minutes from Loh Dalum beach.

I stayed in the fan 28-bed dorm, it is pretty much the cheapest accommodation on the island and considering this place is one of the cheapest bungalows I’ve been too during my travels it certainly wasn’t one of the worst.

Truth be told, it isn’t particularly clean and the beds are quite uncomfortable, but if you’re having enough fun out, you won’t notice it. Mosquito nets are provided and I recommend you use them but if you’re anything like me you’ll get bitten alive and to be honest it makes you feel more private from the other 28 people.

This place is basic, but it’s cheap, really cheap. So what more do travellers expect? You get what you pay for essentially. The rooms are really hot though and each bed does have a fan which helps but even still it’s hot! There is a good wifi service, friendly staff, good location but not too noisy at night like a lot of places around the island so you can get a good nights sleep. Use the lockers also, they don’t look that safe but they are always guarded by reception, better safe than sorry!

phi phiRestaurants, bars and shops are located less than 2 minutes away and in no time, you’ll find yourself appreciating the charms of the Thai cuisine or relaxing under the expert fingers of your Thai masseuse. There’s also a great Irish bar nearby so check it out!

The showers in the dorm room are basic and rather dirty but when you’re in the sea all day, it doesn’t seem to matter too much anyway.

There is also the option of AC dorm, or the private bungalows. The bungalows I am told are also basic with a bed and the bathroom is alright, but the area itself seemed kind of dirty.

Essentially this is a good place to go if you’re on a budget. It’s nothing special but its cheap!
