WEDDING

THE WEDDING DIARIES: My Bridal Skincare Journey with Harmony Beauty

A couple of months ago I started my skincare journey with Harmony Beauty in Buckinghamshire. It all began after getting engaged at the end of last year, and starting my journey to becoming a Mrs.

I made a list of ‘things’ I wanted to work on, in the year leading up to our wedding day next summer. They included things like getting my teeth whitened, starting Invisalign, getting laser hair removal on my legs, and my biggest priority was to improve my facial skincare routine. That’s where Harmony Beauty got in touch and offered to support me on my journey to clearer, brighter and scar-free skin.

When I told them about my upcoming wedding, they suggested putting me on a treatment journey over the course of six months, with an array of different treatments, all designed to improve my skin.

Harmony Beauty Therapy has gained a reputation as one of the most successful and progressive beauty salons in the area so I trusted them with my skincare and we got started!

Harmony use the most advanced technology available in beauty therapy and were the first in the area to introduce advanced non-surgical medical aesthetic treatments such as CACI Ultra, CACI Futur-Tec, LipoFirm Plus Endermologie treatments, Microdermabrasion, IPL Hair Removal & Thread Vein removal.

Before I started treatment, my skin was very damaged through years of acne and spots, which had then led to scarring all over my face, and I was still prone to regular breakouts, mostly on my jaw line but often on my forehead and cheek area too.

What I found with every treatment I had with Harmony Beauty was how personalised it was to me, and my skin, at that current time. It meant each time I went in for a treatment, I was given a different treatment, as they matched how my skin was behaving to a treatment or product which would help my skin.

I loved visiting Harmony Beauty over the six months, and was incredibly impressed with their service, attention to detail and overall improvement of my skin during the treatment period. Treatment #1 – May

To begin my journey with Harmony Beauty we first started with a 10-minute Face Mapping® skin analysis. The face mapping takes all the guesswork out of getting results and my lovely Dermalogica Skin Therapist diagnosed my skin concerns and then prescribed me a course of treatments suited to my skin perfectly. First we needed to clear the skin, then renovate and then re-new. The face mapping also then provided me with a home care and treatment regimen to ensure I continued my skin health in your 14 unique zones.

When I arrived for my treatment I was welcome by Shweta who sat me down and we spoke about my skin. I was then as the therapist left the room, I was asked to get ready for the treatment by removing the clothing from the top part of your body so they do not get product on your clothes. They also provide you with a towel and blanket to cover up.

If you have long hair, they also tie this back in to a hair band to keep it out of the way. A facial treatment is definitely one of the most relaxing beauty treatments you can have and I loved getting fully immersed in my treatments, lying back and relaxing.

For my first treatment we opted for the ProSkin60® (£66.00) with MediBac Clearing. The ProSkin60® skin treatments are 100% customised to your skin needs based on consultation and a thorough, zone-by-zone Face Mapping® skin analysis. Each treatment includes professional double cleansing, exfoliation, extractions (as needed), masque, toner and skin protection.

As I had just finished a month of travelling for work, and my skin needed a clean-up. This treatment is perfect for adult acne with this powerful line of products that help jump-start acne clearing and help prevent acne well beyond the treatment. I loved this treatment and it cleared my skin of lots of build-up, cleansed and protected.

To finish they provided me with an aftercare kit to use for 3 days to manage any post-treatment conditions and help increase hydration and moisturisation regime. To hear more head to my Instagram highlights ‘Skincare’ for a full round up.

Treatment #2 – June

A few weeks later I came back to Harmony Beauty but this time I was booked in for my first ever Dermalogica Pro Power Peel60® (£120.00) which is ideal designed to speed up cell renewal and cell turnover to improve skin texture and appearance to reveal brighter, clearer, looking skin to get my skin looking amazing in preparation for the wedding next year.

Every Dermalogica treatment is customised to the client’s skin type to target problems so started with consultation & skin mapping to assess where my skin was at. It was full of build-up, and needed a proper cleanse, so my therapist prepared the pee

l, so suit my current skin health, with an array of strengths of product for the peel.

I had two layers of the clearing peel and a third layer targeted on the congested area Shweta wanted to address. My skin reacted really well, going slightly red in the first 24 hours and now a week later, my skin is glowing!

After the peel, they then put on a hydrating mask, and used CACI Synergy micro-current and S.P.E.D blue and combi red and blue light. The non-surgical facial toning system gently helps tighten and tone sagging muscles while smoothing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. The dual tipped probes increase the effect on the muscles producing immediate dramatic results. This was to make the mask penetrate much deeper and the light therapy will heal, repair and rejuvenate the skin.

Treatment #3 – August

For my fourth treatment I opted again for the Dermalogica Pro Power Peel60® (£120.00) which is designed to speed up cell renewal and turnover to improve skin texture and appearance to reveal clearer looking skin. After a busy summer, flying all over the world, and indulging in some of my favourite food and drink, my skin had taken a battering and needed some TLC.

This effective and customised 60-minute treatment combines the benefits of our Pro Power Peel 30 treatment with additional advanced techniques and technologies. And my results were dramatically enhanced by a supplementary deep treatment process incorporating powerful IonActive Serum™, a customised masque, LED light therapy and relaxing massage to ensure my skin was left clear, smooth and glowing from the moment I left the studio.

Treatment #4 – September

Then last month I went for my final treatment and ended my journey with the ProSkin60® (£66.00). The ProSkin60® skin treatments are 100% customised to your skin needs based on consultation and a thorough, zone-by-zone Face Mapping® skin analysis. Each treatment includes professional double cleansing, exfoliation, extractions (as needed), masque, toner and skin protection.

For my final treatment we opted for the Dermalogica UltraCalming and my lovely therapist used some of the products, which are serious relief for sensitised skin that calms, soothes and replenishes the most aggravated, irritated, inflamed skin, something I had been suffering with recently. The treatment will include extraction of blackheads on congested areas of the skin and then to complete the treatment you can also customise with your choice of Touch Therapy.

Overview

It’s been a long process but one I am dedicated to and I have loved seeing the results over time. I am so pleased with how my skin has reacted to the treatment and even three months later my skin is clearer, brighter and smoother. I really enjoyed getting peels and found that they were an effective way to treat skin concerns such as pigmentation, advanced signs of ageing and in my case acne and breakouts. I really loved the CACI light too, and felt that really helped my skin health, with the combination of the red and blue light to heal, repair and rejuvenate my skin. Thank you so much to Harmony Beauty for taking me on this journey and I can’t wait to come back next year for some further treatments ahead of my wedding day.

The four most important products to use are:

  1. Cleanser – to remove make up, grime and impurities.
  2. Exfoliant – to remove dead cells from your skin and make it clearer and brighter.
  3. Toner – to remove the excess cleanser and to allow the proper absorption of a moisturiser.
  4. Moisturiser – to replace lost moisture from throughout the day and to protect the skin against the damaging effects of the environment.

*I was gifted these treatments as part of a collaboration, however all opinions are my own, as per usual.
