REVIEW: De Vere Cotswold Water Park

After a manic September I headed down to The Cotswolds for a weekend break with my mum and Arabella. We opted to stay at the De Vere Cotswold Water Park for our stay in this iconic region, as it was well situated from the main honey-coloured villages and towns The Cotswolds has to offer, including Bibury, Bourton-on-the-Water and Stow-on-the-Wold.

A WEEKEND RETREAT AT DE VERE COTSWOLD WATER PARK

Set among the rolling hills of The Cotswolds, De Vere Cotswold Water Park is a hotel as spectacular as its surroundings located in the heart of the 152 lakes that make up the Cotswold Water Park. The hotel sits perfectly in the heart of this area, literally balancing at the side of one of the areas biggest lakes, with every room offering views across the water.

The hotel itself really impressed me, with it’s various buildings, and incredibly modern interior decor. The main reception area integrated Cotswolds stone and glass to seamlessly integrated to create a light and contemporary lakeside space. And the rooms are similar, with great views across the lake, and spacious living areas. We had a family room due to having Arabella with us and we were given a lovely apartment with lounge area, kitchen and ensuite bathroom. The bed was also one of the comfiest I have stayed in for a long time!

There are also an array of places to eat and drink across the hotel, all with lakeside locations, including our choice for dinner, The Old Boathouse Restaurant & Bar! There is also the Muddy Duck Cafe for coffee and snacks, to drinks and light bites in The Lounge or seasonal dining in the Brasserie Restaurant.

At The Old Boathouse Restaurant & Bar, you can enjoy dining and drinking with views of the Water Park from the lakeside tables and outside decking. The menus are changed seasonally, and we really enjoyed dining here. The GM was really helpful, and the food was exactly what we needed – wholesome but tasty! Menus showcase a mix of classic British dishes, sharing platters and lighter meals, with feature dishes including 21-day dry aged steak, beer battered fish & chips and superfood salad. I opted for their Old Boathouse Burger, with mixed salad, and my mum chose the 21-day dry aged steak which she said was perfect. And for pudding mum also went for the chocolate cheesecake with ice-cream.

And if luxury relaxation is what you’re after, they’ve even got a spa on-site! Spa6 is just the place to escape and recharge, with a hydrotherapy pool, experience showers, tate of the art gym and handful of treatment rooms! We stopped off here for a quick dip in the morning before breakfast and it got us ready for the day ahead.

We had such a lovely stay here at De Vere Cotswold Water Park and despite the rain, we loved every minute.

*I stayed here as part of a press visit, as always opinions are my own.
