MK Blogger Network Summer Social

Last month I hosted the third Milton Keynes Blogger Network event of 2018 at The Wheatsheaf in Bow Brickhill. Having visited the pub previously with friends last year I couldn’t wait to head back to The Wheatsheaf to try out their new summer menu and cocktails.

If you didn’t know I am founder of the Milton Keynes Blogger Network, a group I set up a few years ago back in 2016, when I moved to Milton Keynes and realised there was an abundance of bloggers in the local area, but no one had brought us all together. So I set up a little group, where we could all chat about blogging, exchange tips and tricks and meet up every quarter to get to know each other a little better. Fast forward two years and this was our 8th social….

We booked in for a lunch at The Wheatsheaf, part of the Epic Pubs family, situated in the small village of Bow Brickhill on the outskirts of Milton Keynes, The Wheatsheaf is the perfect for getting away from the hustle and bustle. The pub is focussed around being a pub & grill, offering great food, including prime reared steaks and fresh daily caught British fish.

They also love going local and have a large selection of locally sourced Beer and Ales courtesy of Hornes Brewery and the Leighton Buzzard Brewery Company. Their Head Chef updates the menu continually, making sure that the menu is varied and exciting. They source their meat to ensure every steak has quality flavours, and they get their fish from supplier, Stickleback, who makes daily deliveries to The Wheatsheaf Pub & Grill.

We all arrived on a quiet Sunday lunch time and instantly got chatting around her long time in the main dining room. We were served an array of wonderful cocktails including Tequila Sunrise and another which I’ve forgotten the name of, before being served our meal.

To start I opted for their Artichoke and Spinach Soup with rustic bread. It was so light, yet so tasty, and I couldn’t get enough of the flavours they had managed to cram in to a small dish like this. Then once the starter had settled, and we continued chatting, mains were served. For mains I opted for the Vegan Burger with Beetroot & Apple, alongside Basil Mayo, Skinny Fries & Sweetcorn Slaw. Just writing about that now is making my mouth water… The burger was amazing, with crispy fries, and the basil mayo added that extra flavour.

We had such a lovely lunch at The Wheatsheaf, and yet again both the staff and the food were exceptional. I can’t wait to return next time for one of their famous Sunday Roasts!
