What a month it’s been. Most importantly it was my birthday (woop woop) but it was also filled with lots of exciting things such as a trip to Malta, brunch in London with my best friends and shooting some photos in a lavender field with Samsung. So here’s what I got up to in July…
It was my birthdaaaay!
I couldn’t pull together a monthly favourites without mentioning it was my birthday. I am unlike most people and I actually really enjoy celebrating my birthday, though maybe that will change as I get older. I spent the week celebrating, I went for dinner with my mum, dad and Theo, I visited Pennyhill Park for a weekend spa retreat, got the train to London for bottomless brunch with my best friends and then went for Nandos with Arabella. I felt truly loved during that week, and have ever since, knowing I have such special people in my life, whom I love and adore. They are the kindest people in the world, so thank you for being you.
Adding personality to my photos with Adonit
This month I was sent a great product from the team at Adonit! They sent me their Adonit Snap 2 Stylus, which is a fine point stylus coupled with a Bluetooth camera shutter remote that is designed specifically for social media users. Whether a serious influencer eager to elevate their storytelling on Snapchat and Instagram, a creative who wants a better experience taking photos and sketching or a casual user of social channels, the Snap 2 is a perfect fit. I have only tried it a few times so far, but I am already loving this handy little gadget. Stay tuned to see more creative snaps on Instagram…
Visiting the lavender fields with Samsung and Three
In July I also worked with Samsung and Three on a campaign to launch their Galaxy S9 #GoRoam campaign. I decided to test out the phone at Hitchin Lavender Fields, somewhere I had wanted to visit for years but never got round to visiting. Armed with my new Galaxy S9 I drove over to Hitchin with Theo and we walked through the fields snapping away. We managed to get some really incredible photos from the visit, and I was overwhelmed when Samsung then asked to put up one of my snaps at an exhibition at an art gallery in Mayfair. It was popped on the wall for two days and 100’s of people visited! What a great opportunity….
In addition to spending time with my wonderful friends and family, I was also treated to a wonderful visit to Pennyhill Park Hotel & Spa close to Reading. We booked in for an overnight spa detox, staying in one of their beautiful suites, complete with double bathtub, and we spend the two days exploring the hotel, eating all the afternoon tea, getting massaged and sunbathing in the sunshine in their wonderful outdoor pool area. We also dined in their restaurant in the evening where we were treated to a wonderful dinner, and the best Gin & Tonic I’ve had in a while. I really enjoyed our two days here and can’t wait to return.
Spending a week in Malta with Jet2 Holidays
As if that wasn’t enough, to wrap up the month, me, Theo and Arabella then headed off to Malta for a week. We flew to Malta with Jet2Holidays and stayed at the Maritim Antonine Hotel & Spa in Mellieha, on the north east coast of the island. We spent the week mostly exploring this wonderful island; we took a boat trip over to the Blue Lagoon for the morning, we visited the local festival Mellieha Night, we took the bus over to Valletta and explored this incredible city, we spent the day at The Phoenicia, we took another bus to Mdina, also known at The Silent City and to top it off we also went over to the infamous Popeye’s Village. It was a jam-packed fun-filled week and we had so much fun exploring this stunning island. I already can’t wait to return sometime soon!
The Wandering Quinn’s Meet Up
Just before I jetted off to Malta I jumped on a train down to London to attend one of my best blogging friend’s meet up in Hyde Park. She had invited an array of her followers to meet up and have a picnic for the afternoon and I couldn’t turn down an offer to meet some fellow like-minded women, who love travel as much as me. Ellie is also off travelling soon, heading to India and South East Asia soon after, so I wanted a good old catch up with her too. Thanks for the invite El!
Keeping my hair silky smooth
This heat just doesn’t seem to want to end, and my hair isn’t thanking me for it either… I am basically a walking version of Monica from FRIENDS when the heat gets to my hair. To tame the mane I have two top tips, 1) invest in a great sea salt spray, it’s a natural alternative to keep your hair frizz-free and full of bounce and 2) grab yourself a Remington D3010, deemed ‘The UK’s best hair dryer’ based on exceptional Amazon customer reviews and it certainly does the job. It keeps my hair frizz-free even when being dried, so that I can make a swift exit after getting ready in to the sunshine!
Seeing the full picture with olloclip
Another great product I was sent this month was olloclip’s new iPhone X lens system. It basically makes your Instagram posts amazing when travelling as it gives you three different lense options for your phone. It is just like having a DLR camera but on your phone. It comes with a new patented binding system called Connect X which clips neatly on to your phone or over a screen protector, improving your iPhone’s camera with extra telephoto lenses, Macro zooms, fish-eyes and the like. All customisable so you can choose which lenses you’d like. The casing turns into a tripod too, for extra usability. GENIUS!
