What a month June was… it was supposed to be fairly quiet after a manic month in May however ended up being just as busy. I spent a lot of time with friends and family, as well as exploring more of the UK. I didn’t step foot on a plane but I did explore more of Nottinghamshire, Isle of Wight and I even popped back home for a weekend in Northamptonshire.
It was also a month filled with lots of celebrations; a close friend of mine found out she was pregnant, my best friend from school had her baby, we celebrated Father’s Day and then we also had some champers to celebrate me getting a merit in my Diploma in Marketing after waiting three months for my grade.
And as if this month couldn’t top it for 2018, July is my birthday month and we’ve got lots planned throughout the month, including Wimbledon, a birthday weekend away, a trip to Malta and much more.
Seeing Queen Beyonce perform in London
Last month I was lucky enough to be invited to Beyonce and Jay-Z’S On The Run ll Tour with the lovely ladies from Debenhams and what a night it was… I’ve now seen Beyonce three times, and every time I am blown away by her utter passion and confidence. I spent the evening with a group of fellow bloggers and the team from Debenhams in the Royal East Lounge at London Stadium (otherwise known at the Olympic Stadium) over in Stratford, where we were treated to a wonderful selection of drinks and a meal in the lounge seating area before the show, which also had exceptional views across the venue. Spending time with family at Forest Holidays
I went off grid for a few days last month too, to spend time with my two brothers and their girlfriends at Forest Holidays in Sherwood Forest. This wasn’t a blogging trip and we all chipped in for one of Forest Holiday’s Treehouse Cabins for a few days. We spent a lot of time together laughing and messing around like we did when we were kids, we played lots of drinking games, we went go-karting (I was far too much of a wimp to go very fast and came last!) and we also went GoApe, where we spent the afternoon climbing up trees and jumping of rope-swings. We had such a lovely few days and even though it wasn’t a blogging trip I still filmed the trip, making a little bit of a vlog for the trip, so we can look back on it in years to come!
The summer collection by Quiz
A new brand I have stumbled across this summer is QUIZ. A brand I had been well aware of for years, but more engaged with since seeing their latest collaboration with Chloe Lewis from TOWIE for their #QUIZXTOWIE campaign, who I follow on Instagram. I had seen some really lovely photographs of her showing off their clothes and stumbled across QUIZ. I have found some stunning going out tops, and dresses from Quiz and can’t wait to show you them all over the next month on Instagram.
Attending FEAST at Waddesdon Manor
On Father’s Day last month we attended the wonderful FEAST at Waddesdon Manor for a day filled with food, music and performances in the beautiful grounds. The event actually runs all weekend, but we visited on the Sunday as a treat for Theo on Father’s Day. The event took place on the North Front, where they paid homage to Baron Ferdinand’s vision of Waddesdon. The ‘Baron’s Treat’ was a day when Baron Ferdinand de Rothschild would invite local people to enjoy a tea party in the gardens of Waddesdon Manor. The north front was decorated with an avenue of colour, with flowers, flags, and elaborately decorated tables, where you could take a seat and enjoy a picnic on the tables, whilst admiring the performers wandering around the grounds and food on offer from one of 70 handpicked artisan food and wine stalls. Reminiscing about my trip to the Isle of Wight
As if St Lucia wasn’t enough, two weeks after we landed back in the UK we headed off to the Isle of Wight for four days of exploring. I had never been to this wonderful island, but within hours I had fallen in love with it’s relaxed atmosphere, smell of sea air, and stunning views from every corner of the island. We stayed at Darwin Escapes’ Woodside Bay Lodge Retreat, which was the perfect base for our long weekend away. Unlike the old style holiday parks, Darwin Escapes offers 5* luxury cabins with incredible views, and cabins with everything you could need for a weekend retreat. The cabin we had had two bedrooms, sleeping 4 people, an open plan kitchen lounge area, plus a decking area out the front for dining on those warm summer evenings. READ FULL POST HERE.
Afternoon Tea and blogger meet up with Preferred Hotels
At the end of the month I headed to St Albans’s to attend an Afternoon Tea Blogger Meet Up at Sopwell House with Preferred Hotels. The afternoon was a scorcher, and we all spent the afternoon chatting blogging and travel as we ate our way through a mammoth afternoon tea, before wandering the grounds of the beautiful Sopwell House Hotel. It was a lovely way to spend an afternoon and it was lovely to catch up with some of my favourite bloggers too. I will certainly be scouring Preferred Hotel’s website very soon looking for somewhere to visit…
Heading home for the Welton Soap Box Derby
On the last day of the month I headed back to my hometown Daventry in Northamptonshire to see family and go to the annual Soap Box Derby in the village next to ours. It’s an event we all get together for, we eat lots, drinks lots and laugh a lot at all the karts going down the road. It basically a smaller take on the Red Bull Soap Box Derby, and the all the villages in the surrounding areas come out to watch and celebrate the beginning of summer. This is one not to be missed – any of you from a different country who fancy a real British experience, message me!
