REVIEW: Woodside Bay Lodge Retreat, Isle of Wight

Last month, over the bank holiday weekend, we headed off to the Isle of Wight for four days of adventures. To give ourselves a ‘home’ for the weekend we checked in to Woodside Bay Lodge Retreat, located on the North East shore of the Isle of Wight, close to Ryde.

The resort boasts access to a beautiful shingle beach, surrounded by glorious woodland and if you’re lucky views across to Portsmouth and Southampton. Luckily for us, we jumped on a Wightlink Ferry from Portsmouth to Fishbourne, which mean’t we only had a five minute drive to our resort once we docked in the Isle of Wight.

The tranquil resort offers an array of luxury holiday lodges and one-of-a-kind tree house accommodation, which is located close to the water, but also to all of the action the island has to offer.

Woodside Bay Lodge Retreat was the perfect base for our long weekend away. Unlike the old style holiday parks, Darwin Escapes offers 5* luxury cabins with incredible views, and cabins with everything you could need for a weekend retreat.

The cabin we had was a 2-bedroom Wooton Lodge, which slept four people, had an open plan kitchen lounge area, and had a decking area out the front for dining on those warm summer evenings. The light and open lodge features one king size double bedroom (with ensuite shower) and an additional twin bedroom, which Arabella was delighted with, and she also had her own en-suite bathroom. She was of course thrilled!

The resort was a home away from home, with all the modern luxuries you would expect from a self-catering retreat with double glazing, central heating and a fully fitted kitchen, down to the fluffy towels and comfy bedding and the mod-cons of flat screen TV and iPod docking stations.

And the luxuries don’t stop there though, with many of the lodges featuring their own private hot tub so you can let those stresses drain away or relax after a busy day exploring the island. The resort and lodge is ideal for families or couples wanting an affordable, yet luxury accommodation whilst visiting the Isle of Wight.

And if you are splashing the cash a little, Darwin Escapes also offer something a little different in the form of a treehouse! Their idyllic Treehouses are a magical setting to enjoy the woodland from a different perspective. The spacious open plan living area features its own log burner and intimate dining area so you can enjoy romantic evenings in front of the fire.

Alternatively you can head out onto the timber decking area and take advantage of the private hot tub facilities which are on offer. Soak up the bubbles and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere at our glorious resort.

They also offer an array of other options at Woodside Bay Resort, including Alverstone Lodge which sleeps 2, Wroxhall Lodge which sleeps 6 and Cranmore Premier Lodge which sleeps 8.

*I was invited to visit Woodside Bay Resort by Darwin Escapes however all opinions are my own, as always.
