We headed to The Swan one Friday evening after a long week at work, and a few weeks back when the weather was scorching! We opted for a table inside, so we didn’t overheat and then headed outside later on for pudding.

The menu offers a tempting array of delicious dishes that have all been expertly prepared by the talented chefs, using only the freshest and finest ingredients, including a lot of local ingredients.

To start I opted for the crispy Karaaga Chicken, with cucumber ribbons, mooli, grain salad and warm katsu sauce which was amazing, and Theo went for the Salt & Szechuan pepper squid with aioli sauce, which smelt fresh!

After having our starters we were raring to go for the mains, where I opted for the buttermilk Southern Fried Chicken stuffed with ‘nduja sausage, with sweet potato fries, apple salad and lemon aioli. This dish was a stab in the dark for me, but I was extremely pleased. Lots of flavours and I loved the spicy nduja sausage accompaniment.

Theo, as usual, opted for the steak – but went XXL sized. He ordered the 15oz 28-Day-Aged Rib-Eye Steak On The Bone, with bone-marrow butter, twice-cooked chunky chips, crispy onions, grilled mushroom, confit tomato, baby kale and beef dripping sauce. I have to admit… I was jealous – he let me try a little bit!

Then we headed outside for pudding in the sunshine, with a bottle of wine. I opted for the warm Belgian chocolate brownie with bourbon vanilla ice cream and Theo went for the butterscotch & nut crumble bar with Dulce de leche and whipped cream. Both were light, yet flavoursome and paired well with our bottle of sav wine.

We left feeling very full, and content; ready to lounge in front of the television back at home for the rest of the evening.
