Camping hasn’t always been my strong suit, instead I preferred the luxury life. Or at least a life without any creepy-crawlies and leaky tents. Even at festivals I wouldn’t sleep well or would feel dirty all weekend. Roughing it simply doesn’t come natural to me so when luxury glamping provider Lantern & Larks invited me out to stay at one of the locations in the UK I couldn’t refuse.
Glamping offers the same exposure to the great outdoors as traditional camping, but the you are welcomed by an alternative to camping with more luxurious accommodation including yurts, tipis, log cabins and more. What makes the difference is the addition of amenities such as hot showers, working toilets, stoves and heating. It offers a new way for families, couples and friends to enjoy the outdoors but within a relaxing and comfortable environment. Say goodbye to erecting tents in gale force winds at 10pm!
When I went to stay at Lantern & Larks, Exton Park near Rutland Water last month I wasn’t sure what to expect but the minute we arrived at the small orchards near Exton House I knew we had arrived. As I drove in to the car park I was greeted by a lovely lady called June who welcomed us and showed us to our tent. The tent was magical and left us all in awe with its safari-esque canvas structure with fire pit sitting at the bottom of the steps leading up to the entrance to our accommodation for the weekend.
Inside we were greeted by a cooking stove with wood burner in the central open-plan living space which included a seating area to the right, dining table with chairs, and kitchen to the far left with lots of space to prepare some tasty treats.
Each of the tents can accommodate six people, within one double bed, two singles and a bunk bed for the kids and all rooms have solid pine beds with super comfy mattresses and duvet. And there’s an outside decking area with even more space for enjoying the outdoors with a Pimms in hand.
Nothing beats getting out in nature and exploring great destinations and Exton had a great location for exploring Rutland and getting on the water on Rutland Water. Close by there was also the village of Oakham which we explored on the Saturday morning, grabbed a mid-morning hot chocolate and then headed to Tesco to buy the BBQ food for that evening.
Across the weekend me and the girls simply sat back and relaxed, explored the local area and enjoyed each others company. It was the first time in years we had all been together in a relaxed environment where we could catch up, talk about life and reminisce about university.
The weekend was so much fun and I would whole heartedly recommend Lantern & Larks to a group of friends, family or couple who enjoy the finer things in life but still want to get out in to nature. Glamping with Lantern & Larks is a great way to spend quality time with friends and family, and it makes exploring the outdoors fun and easy for any age.
*This trip was provided by Lantern & Larks but I wouldn’t endorse anything I didn’t love so go figure!
