November on Sophie's Suitcase

What have you been up to this month?

November has been a pretty quiet month in the grand scheme of things. I celebrated Halloween at the end of October and visited a pumpkin farm in East Anglia. It was a great day and made for some great Instagram posts – see more here.

Beginning of the month I was invited to an event at Hotel Indigo in Earls Court and was served a lovely roast dinner, including wine whilst listening to Edith Bowman in a hotel restaurant. It was a great day with my best friend Sophie and we had a great catch up surrounded by good food, good music and good company.

The first week of November I attended the mammoth event that is World Travel Market at the Excel London. I met some lovely blogger friends and I alos got many tips from sessions put on by various people such as Traverse and Travel Perspective. I also got to chat to some great tourism boards, country reps and travel agencies. It was lovely to meet you if we chatted!

I was then pretty poorly for the week following and spent a week relaxing in my spare time and at the weekends.

As we reached the back end of November I was lucky enough to be attending the CosmoBlogAwards as Sophie’s Suitcase had been short-listed for Best for Travel at this year’s awards. I went along on the evening to meet some incredible bloggers, drink a few glasses of wine and just have a good time and ended up coming home having been chosen as the Travel Blog of the Year 2015!!!!!!!

Towards the end of the month I had a big catch up with some of my favourite people in the world – the girls! These are my best friends from university and they all came down to Cambridge to stay at my flat. We ate lots of food, drank lots of wine and had lots of laughs! It was a fun weekend and you can see my photos from the weekend here.

I have a few plans being organised at the moment with a potential trip to Copenhagen next week and I then hope to go on a weekend break somewhere in the UK mid-December.

Have a lovely December and run up to Christmas! I don’t know about you but I am far too excited for Christmas…

Blog posts I’ve loved

Monica at The Travel Hack published a great article on “Skiing vs. Snowboarding: The Great Debate” something I am constantly arguing with myself. I am a skiier by nature but have recently started lessons to learn how to snowboard. Which one is your favourite? The cool snowboarder or the sophisticated skiier?

Melissa at Footsteps on the Globe published a blog “Five step guide to the Blue Lagoon” on her recent trip to Iceland and her visit to the Blue Lagoon. This is a trip I MUST do next year and I cannot wait to go! Reading all of Mel’s blog post on her trip make me want to jump on a plane now…

Mollie at Mollie Bylett published a great blog “5 destinations immediately added to my Bucket List after WTM 2015, Excel London”  at the beginning of the month about her recent visit to WTM in London. Reading about the locations and countries that she now wants to visit has also inspired me to visit places I’d never thought of before WTM. Places like Serbia, Georgia and Slovenia. I may have to update my own bucket list now…
