“I believe in process. I believe in four seasons. I believe that winter’s tough, but spring’s coming. I believe that there’s a growing season. And I think that you realise that in life, you grow. You get better.” – Steve Southerland
This time of the year is my favourite, as the mornings get brighter and the sunshine appears more often than before. Spring is a season of new beginnings, as fresh buds bloom, animals awaken and the earth seems to come to life once again, after a cold and full winter.
Spring is the season of new growth and the signs of change are all around us. I think this is why I love Spring so much as it opens new doors, provides opportunity and allows you to start again. I ended winter and started the spring season by taking a trip to Yorkshire with Theo for his birthday, and in two weeks I will be heading over to Smaland in Sweden for a few days skiing!
For the beginning of the new year I decided to do a clear-out (a spring clean as such) and chuck out and old items I don’t wear anymore and add in some key staple pieces to my wardrobe. My favourite items from my winter to spring wardrobe transformation wardrobe are listed below, and keep reading as there’s a competition towards the end of the post too!
If you know me, you will already know how much I love FatFace. I am working with them again this season and I pretty much fell in love with everything from their new collection.
Their new collection is all about simplicity and comfort – something I am all for. I would much prefer a jeans and a jumper combo, paired with my Converse, than a fancy dress, uncomfortable tights and heels that hurt your feet after five minutes.
FatFace totally get that, and that’s why they are a brand I love through and through; they are me and my style epitomised in a brand.
Some of my favourites items from the new collection include, the Sussex Jacket, which is perfect for outdoor pursuits with heaps of great features including an adjustable waist, a cord-lined neck guard and plenty of pockets for all your bits and bobs when your out and about. Team this jacket with a thick jumper, like the Cally Jumper and long wellies for a muddy walk in the countryside!
I also picked up their Heritage Gilet in Charcoal, which now uses PrimaLoft® a man-made insulation that’s lighter, really tough and (unlike duck down) doesn’t lose any of its insulating properties when it gets wet. I love layering this gilet with a cosy jumper, my trusty bobble hat and my Newham Chelsea Boots, which I love, suitable for all occasions, from daily walks with the dog to dressing up to meet friends in the pub.
Another staple item I know I am going to wear in spring and all year round is the Dedee Denim Pinafore Dress made from a soft chambray denim, making it the perfect everyday dress, paired with their classic Organic Cotton Breton Tee which is the softest tee I’ve ever worn. God knows what it’s made of… but it’s good.
I also grabbed myself a Amy Monodot Skirt Dress which was perfect for our lunch out to Rockliffe Hall, the perfect mix of smart casual. Add the Cassie Cross Body Bag and you’ve got yourself a great outfit that will take you from casual day wear, right through to the night!
