Today’s post is all about my morning routine. The morning is definitely not my favourite part of the day, due to the fact I am not an early riser. I love sleep, and therefore getting up in the morning is always a struggle.
I have no idea how I will cope when I have children… but hey that’s a long way off! However once I am up, I am go! I think it is so important to have a little routine in place each morning to ensure you set a positive tone for the rest of the day. Below I go through exactly what I do between waking up and starting work.
7:15 – Wake up, meditate & make my bed
I get up at around 7.15 every morning, or a little later if I haven’t slept very well. I will then snooze for ten minutes before finally getting out of bed and nipping to the loo.
I will then lay back on my bed and use my Headspace app to meditate for 10 minutes. I find this gives me a really good start to the day. I think about the goals I want to achieve for the day, and I listen to my body.
7:30 – Make my bed
I do this every morning without question. I think it sets a great tone of productivity for the day ahead and tells your mind that you are up, and ready to get on with the day!
7:30 – Shower, brush teeth & skin care routine
I then make my way to the bathroom to shower, brush my teeth and do my morning skincare routine. Before my skin became troublesome last year, a morning skincare routine was something that didn’t even exist in my life…but since it got back I have spent more time and money on making sure I am looking after my beloved skin.
The products I use:
- Prescribed acne cream
- The Body Shop Seaweed Gel
- Nivea Moisturiser for Dry Skin for my body
- Frezyderm AC Active Wash
7:45am – 8:15am – Get dressed and do my makeup
It doesn’t usually take me long to get ready in the morning, due to my basic make up routine, and casual work wear. Usually I simply grab a pair of jeans, and a tee, or a loosing fitting dress. The weather has been so up and down recently so I currently have both my summer and winter wardrobe out. I am loving everything right now from the new collection from FatFace, and put in a massive order of skirts, shorts, dresses, and shoes!
8:15am – 8:30am – Coffee & breakfast
Next up is my favourite part of the morning…breakfast and coffee! I usually usually have a smoothie for breakfast using my trusty Nutri Bullet filled with:
- Chia seeds
- Aloe Vera Gel by Forever (I get mine from a lovely lady called Emma)
- Ice cubes
- Frozen berries
- Spirulina from BodyMe
- 2 x scoops of protein powder by Goddess Nutrition
I also always reach for a coffee first thing to get me going, and I love using my latest product, the Dolce Gusto by De’Longhi Jovia. The newest addition to my new kitchen and the latest coffee machine from Nescafe. The sleek design, and the ease of use is what led to me to the getting the machine and it fits perfectly into my kitchen, which is mostly white. I have it placed in the corner of the room, with my Nutri Bullet, so it is easy to get to, and use in the mornings. I have not always been a big coffee drinker, but I love the odd one on occasion, and Theo is also a big fan. We love the fact we can now enjoy superior coffee at home (instead of traipsing to Starbucks).
Or if I am feeling like making my coffee from scratch I will use my Coffee Gator!
If I have time, I will also try to head out for a quick walk up the road and back to get my brain working and metabolism going!
8:30 – Heading off to work
I then grab my lunch for the day, fill up my Root7 Corkcicle Canteen and snack packs and my handbag, before heading off in the car to work, which is around 20 minutes away from home. I love having a short commute, it means I get a live outside of work, and I get to enjoy the small things in life, such as a coffee in the morning, and a walk before work.
Of course, some days differ if I have meetings outside the office or events but this is what a typical day usually looks like for me. It’s nothing too exciting but it’s how I like to start each day and what I find works best for me. I always like to keep it stress-free as a morning really can make or break a day.
