Bear with me, but I am going to attempt a monthly favourites. Each month I get to do some amazing trips, events or try products, but I don’t always have time to feature them all. So let’s give this a try and see how we get on.
I had such a fun month, from buying a house (yes I know!) to getting some great new outdoor gear from Go Outdoors, to cheering on the London Marathon runners to brunching with my favourite blogging girls. Anyway here goes…. here are my April favourites!
I bought a house
Stop the press, yes I know… I only went and bought a house in April. After years of saving, six months of living with parents and a three month process we finally own our own home. We have bought a little cottage in a village in Buckingham and we are so excited to get moved in. We have already started thinking about re-decorating and how we can do up the place, and I have also become attached to Pinterest – send me all the home decor, interiors inspo and decorating magazines.
Bottomless Brunch at Bar + Block
Ladies and gents, I really didn’t know where to begin with this one… the food at Bar + Block Steakhouse was just INSANE. The other week me and a few of my favourite blogging ladies including Kara from Heels in my Backpack, Liv from Liv on a Shoestring, Sam from Yoko Meshi and Ellie from The Wandering Quinn headed for our quarterly brunch somewhere in the UK and this time we opted for the trendy Bar + Block at Kings Cross.
I love brunch, a meal where putting prosecco, bread, steak and pancakes together all at the same time is completely acceptable. Bar + Block have just launched their new bottomless brunch and my god was it good. And it is only £15 for a meal with unlimited prosecco for 90 minutes…… You can read my full review here.
Plan your next adventure with Go Outdoors
As most of you know, I love being outdoors, walking, hiking, biking and everything in between. Me and Theo have even been toying with the idea of buying a couple of kayaks for the summer as we live close by to both the Grand Union Canal and the River Great Ouse – will keep you updated with this!
Then last month I was emailed by the PR team at GO Outdoors announcing the opening of their refurbished Milton Keynes store – asking me to come along for a browse! I was blown away by the new store, simply the size and variety of the products were enough to get anyone ready for the outdoors, and me and Theo decided to spend a little and get back a lot with regards to our health and fitness. At the new store you can get everything from running trainers to active wear, and fishing equipment to rock climbing – the store has everything! If you are after a new bike, Neil, the store’s bike expert is your best friend. He is passionate about biking and everything that comes with it, and can help you out if you are after a new bike. They even had a fishing area downstairs which Theo was thrilled about, and an expect fisherman on hand located in the tackle hut to offer advice. Then when you venture upstairs, there is a whole upper floor level dedicated to camping and camping necessities, such as sleeping bags, camping equipment, cooking utensils and even a WiFi booster and Tv satellite kit. They have a vast range of tents available ranging from pop-ups to fully fledged tents suitable for your whole extended family; making the sleeping outdoors thing way easier!
After over an hour of browsing we had collected everything we needed, including: Nike Women’s Dri-FIT Essentials Running Tights, Regatta Women’s Montes Fleece, Regatta Women’s Bayeur Jacket, Freedom Trail Women’s Essential Baffled Jacket, Merrell Siren Sport Q2 and a Bike pump + light.
I then went back for more fun on Saturday 1 April for the big opening with Eastenders star Ross Kemp. We grabbed a few more bits and bobs taking up their offer of another 15% off discount price, before heading off to some home ware stores for our new house!
Cheering on the runners at the London marathon
Not so much a review or a product, but a life moment. Two weekends ago I headed out early to get a good spot to cheer on the runners at the London marathon. I went with work, but ended up staying longer than expected and cheering on everyone and anyone who needed a little encouragement as they stumbled past. It was such an amazing experience and the atmosphere was totally amazing and it felt very emotional.
Hampton by Hilton – Gatwick Airport
A welcoming hotel, just seconds from Gatwick Airport’s North Terminal is the Hampton by Hilton London Gatwick hotel. Connected to Gatwick Airport’s North Terminal by a short covered walkway, Hampton by Hilton is the perfect hotel for an early flight from London Gatwick. I stayed here last month and after staying with Hilton at Luton Airport a few months ago I really got the bug for staying in a hotel the night before a flight. It makes life so much easiser and more comfortable when you don’t have to drive at 3am down the M1.
The rooms were standard but good, and included everything you could need for a stress-free night before a big work trip or holiday with the family. Comfy pillows, tea and coffee in the room and widescreen TV so you can watch an episode of FRIENDS before bed. There was also a state-of-the-art bathroom with walk-in power shower. And when you wake up the next day – breakfast is served from 4am! *Prices start from £89 per night when booking direct at www.hamptonbyhilton.com.
Fitness, food and yoga with HHH Retreats
If you hadn’t already noticed from my social media channels, earlier in the month I headed off to the wonderful island of Crete again, but this time I was off on a different type of holiday. Nothing like the trip I took last year, staying at Daios Cove Resort & Villa; this time I was off on a detox, fitness and yoga retreat with HHH Retreats!
It’s not hard to see why Crete is the ultimate destination for a retreat; with the island’s rolling hills, active lifestyle and locally sourced food at every corner, it is the dream destination to find your zen and climb mountains. Crete is a country that delights, and one that I will visit again and again. The island offers some of Europe’s most scenic hiking routes, stunning cycling, and picturesque beaches. I was delighted to be asked to join HHH Retreats in Crete and was looking forward to leaving my hectic city lifestyle behind in London.

Great hair, don’t care
Finally, after my last pair (RIP) died I have got another pair of GHD’s! My last pair lasted my eight whole years, and they were my go-to whenever my hair was having a bad day. Then last month GHD got in touch and asked if I would like to try a styler from their new Wanderlust collection. I am now the proud mum to a pair of the limited edition ghd V® ruby sunset styler, nominated for Best Gadget and Tool in the Sunday Times Style Beauty Awards. Inspired by the fading light of tropical sunset, the unique limited edition comes with a matching heat-resistant bag and universal voltage, for peace of mind when travelling and when you are on-the-go! These guys will be my ultimate travelling companion…. #GlobalHairDays
