How to Create a More Positive Life

As you might have been able to tell recently I have been taking steps in my life to becoming more positive and kicking anxiety’s ass! As it is Blue Monday on the 16th, and supposedly one of the most depressing days of the year, I have teamed up with Mind + Moonpig to talk positive thinking!

I have managed my mental health issues in a variety of ways, from having CBT sessions, looking after my body, allowing myself to be vulnerable, using Rescue Remedy when things get tough and attempting to think in a different way. Blue Monday highlights the fact that for a person suffering with mental health issues including depression, anxiety and other forms of sadness, that everyday is a Blue Monday. So isn’t it about time we started talking more, chatting about mental health and attempting to help each other.

On Blue Monday why not go out of your way to make someone feel special, make a friend smile and send a card for the family member you haven’t seen in months. It is important to stay connected with loved ones throughout the year, not just on occasions such as birthdays or Christmas.

And there are also certain things you can do in your own life in order to become a more positive person, here are my top tips!

It has also made me think differently about how I can help others and in 2017 my blog will become a travel and wellbeing blog – so that I can offer my advice and tips for dealing with mental health issues and anxiety!

 

Believe in yourself – It is so important for you to believe in yourself and believe that you can do anything you want to do. Don’t ever doubt yourself, have faith and trust your instincts. Instincts go a hell of a long way!

Be present – I realise this is harder to enforce than to say but being present in your life is the beginning of tackling anxiety. Well for me anyway it was. Being able to be present and aware enables you to be more grateful and in turn you become a more positive person. Be present and enjoy what is happening in the moment.

Allow yourself to lose control – Again another one for me, if I am not in control I don’t feel happy. But sometimes, just sometimes it is OK to be vulnerable and not be in control. Let your friends book the holiday, take a step back and relax. You never know, you could enjoy yourself.

Learn to let go – Letting go on the past is a big thing for me, there have been points in my life where I have been depressed and felt more anxiety than ever before. But allowing yourself to see those moments are building blocks instead of hurdles will allow you to be more positive about the future. Whatever happened, accept it and learn from it, then move on!

Be grateful – Gratitude speaks a thousand words, be thankful for you got. Be grateful to have a job, to have a bed to sleep in every night, to have family, to have friends and whenever you feel negative about anything, just remember that a lot of people don’t have what you got and reminding yourself to be grateful is the perfect way to gain positivity.

Don’t compare yourself – It is just pointless and there is no need, so don’t compare yourself and instead look at the person you are, have become and will be. The woman inside you will be forever grateful you didn’t spend hours thinking you were fat, hadn’t achieved enough or should be settled by the time you were 25. You are you, and you are great!

Smile – Always remember to smile and laugh every single day. It is also infectious so smile around others, and be around those that smile. You will become more positive and upbeat about life and believe that you can conquer the world. You know that saying ‘smile at the world and the world will smile back’.
