Pinterest and Airbnb today announced a new collaboration to give anyone in the United Kingdom a chance to fulfil their holiday dream. Starting today, Pinterest and Airbnb are running a “Pin Your Dream Trip” contest to send a lucky UK traveller and their companion on a week-long, all-expenses paid holiday anywhere in the world.
Sound too good to be true? Contestants only need a valid UK passport and a Pinterest account. That’s it. If entrants don’t have a Pinterest account, they can easily sign up at www.pinterest.com.
The winner of the “Pin Your Dream Trip” contest will be the Pinner who creates the most compelling board of their dream destination with a story that shares the activities they’d like to do in that place they have always wanted to visit. Staying at a property available through Airbnb, both the host and Pinner will pin about their trip to help others to experience what it’s really like to live like a local in that specific spot. Entries close on 19 June 2015 and the Pinner and companion will make their trip over Summer 2015.
Pinterest, the visual discovery tool for saving creative ideas is collaborating with Airbnb for the first time to launch a “Pin Your Dream Trip” competition to help get UK pinners offline to explore the place they’ve always dreamed of visiting. Ideally, the winner will be pursuing a hobby or interest they truly love, whether it’s coffee tasting in Sao Paolo or an architecture crawl in Rome. Let us know what you’re interested in trying — whether it’s a cooking class in Sicily or flamenco dancing in Sevilla, and Pinterest will help make one dream experience a reality.
Every day, two million places are pinned on Pinterest globally. Among UK pinners, these places are the top pinned destinations, all available to book via Airbnb:
2. French Polynesia
3. Milos, Greece
4. Rome, Italy
5. Lofoten Islands, Norway
“I’m finding that people are becoming increasingly adventurous. For example, whereas a few years ago doing the London Marathon was a big deal, these days there is an explosion of people’s holidays becoming more outdoor and sport-oriented. I recommend that people who are looking for an adventure should challenge themselves and push to do something different or difficult on holiday. It will be more memorable if you do something different that surprises yourself when you accomplish it.” said UK Adventurer and avid Pinterest user, Alastair Humphreys.
“With over a million listings in 34,000 cities and over 190 countries across the globe, thousands of people are enjoying magical trips every day with Airbnb. Feeding the increasing desire of travellers to live like a local and experience more meaningful trips than ever before, people are pursuing everything from surfing to sushi-making with the help of our hosts. Extraordinary experiences can be seen on Pinterest and realised on Airbnb and we look forward to making another dream trip a reality.” said James McClure, Airbnb Country Manager, UK.
The contest runs from 8-19 June 2015. Entrants can build their dream holiday board on their Pinterest account and submit the link to the board here. Winner will be announced on 24 June. More details and information on the contest can be found here.
