On the most northwest point of Wales, deep in the Anglesey forest, lies Gottwood Festival, a festival where bonds between people are strong, and there is a palpable sense of purpose on everyone’s mind.
This boutique, independent festival provides a truly unique, alternate reality to the vast majority of other festivals. Its wonderfully situated location in the heart of Welsh woodland is an incredible backdrop to a festival jam-packed with the best underground electronic music you’re likely to observe live this year.
When it comes to sound, the Gottwood festival is shaped around the Electronic end of the audio spectrum. They invite a number a number of party labels and brands onto their site who each bring their own flavour, unique style and sonic madness to the party hungry crowd. And with its determined philosophy to put to rights all that is wrong with current festivals, Gottwood aims to retrace the routes of modern day events, and give power back to the people, and most importantly, to get people raving again.
Gottwood provides you with everything you need to keep sane, sanguine and sensible throughout their four day adventure. You can book your own boutique bell tents if you just want to up and run from the party on Monday morning and you’ll find lots to do at the various venues located throughout the woods, which even include specially brought in sofas for those all important chill out and meet new friends moments.
The festival has a more balanced musical, visual, and cultural festival on offer, loads of spontaneity, a safer environment, and, above all, a unique experience, Gottwood Festival delivers in spades where most festivals fail.
With the organizers regularly spending an awfully long time curating the lineup, to ensure that festival goers are treated to a diverse, electrifying line-up of risings underground stars, as well as the more established on the scene.
Expect a genre bending, mind altering, roller-coaster ride through varying styles of music, providing one hell of a memorable trip.
On Friday night, Eton Messy and Future Disco came to the stage with an undoubtedly amazing performance to start the festival off. Louche was also on top form and made sure the crowds were ready for their performance of a lifetime. Others acts included: FiftyOne:27, Wigflex and Charles Jordan.
On the Saturday Back 2 Basics and Brotherhood Sound System played a live set that could have been heard across the entire stretch of Wales and then earlier in the day FutureBoogie took over the same stage. Their set was traditionally psychedelic – mostly house with a strong disco flavour.
Then the music continued on Sunday with Road to Nowhere, Tief and Wolf who all played amazing sets in front of packed out tents.
Gottwood really is a special festival, may the fairytale long continue.
